Westport being a heritage town attracts many visitors. It has a good range of shops, interesting pubs and restaurants to cater for all tastes. The Westport Leisure centre provides an up-to-date swimming pool, gym and treatment rooms with similar facilities available in many of the hotels. The 18th century Westport House situated on the edge of the Westport provides activities for all the family during the summer season.

 Visit the Tochar Valley, the route St Patrick travelled in 440-441 and visit the places he stayed on his way to Croagh Patrick. A visit to the many monuments and historical sites gives one an insight into the heritage for Irish people. The Heritage Centre at the Harbour has an interesting museum of local history, people and places. The Museum of Country Life is just 30 minutes drive away while Ballintubber Abbey, Knock Shrine, and the Ceide Fields all have their own museums while the Michael Davitt museum and Hennigans Heritage Farm are special interest Museumes.

By staying in Rockville you are convenient to many tourist attractions, and the many amenities that Westport offers. Enjoy the rugged landscape of Connemara in its many varied aspects. On route stop at Kylemore Abbey with its neo-gothic church and castle and restored Victorian walled gardens, or take a boat trip on the Killary. From Westport you can visit Clare Island by boat after a short drive along the coast. With its rich history and wild countryside Achill Island is just an hours drive away

Westport holds 2 golf courses. The 18-hole championship course and a 9 hole course are both within a 15 minute drive of Rockville. If you like to play a links  Carne, Enniscrone, Connemara and Rosses Point are all approximately 1 hour 15 minutes away

In the Mayo Connemara region there are many mountains to climb for those who like a hike. Croagh Patrick, a pilgrimage mountain with spectacular views from the top is climbed almost daily by people of all nationalities. There are many walks on various types of terrain for walking enthusiasts. Some of the quieter country roads are suitable for cycling while the horse riding stables all have their own routes. Fishing is available on many of the lakes, rivers or on the sea, while there are a number of Blue Flag beaches which one can enjoy and some are suitable for wind surfing.
